Perth’s newest youth community station, Hype FM, began broadcasting on 15th January 2009 on the 101.7FM dial. Hype FM operates on-air from 4.30 pm to 4.30 am, 7 days a week on a Temporary Community Broadcasting License held by YMCA Perth Inc.

Hype FM is committed to establishing a strong musical reputation within the community of Perth as a youth based station dedicated to exclusive music. Hype FM provides opportunities for the youth of Perth to speak out and seek recognition for their social, political and economical influences. The station plays a mix of genres including dance, rock, pop and urban to cater to Perth’s youth population with talkback shows and niche-orientated programming aimed to entertain, inspire and empower.
