An artist that we have alot of love for here on The Soul Lounge is a british singer by the name of Beverley Knight. If you have not heard of her before (it's a real shame) as she is an artist that has an amazing amount of talent and we believe more people should be singing her praises. In her 17 years in the industry she has released six studio albums which have spawned some soulful and funky tracks including 'Made It Back' 'Flavour Of The Old School' & 'Greatest Day'.
We are very excited that in the next few weeks she will be releasing her seventh studio album entitled 'Soul UK'. The album is to feature covers of British soul songs that inspired her whilst she was growing up. Also great news, just for the heads and lovers of the visuals, the album will also include a live DVD of the tracks, filmed in London. Set to be released on 04 July 2011.
In the meantime check out a clip (below) of her doing a cover on one of our favourite Jamiroquai tracks 'When You Gonna Learn'
We are really getting excited about the forthcoming albums from Jill Scott entitled 'Words and Sounds Vol.4: The Light Of The Sun AND Just Before Dawn: Jill Scott From The Vault Vol.1'. Its gonna be a whold lotta great music for fans and all we can say is 'Yes!' to that.
Here is another insight into the beauiful new sounds..
Back in 1971, history was made when the Motown album 'What's Going On' took the world by storm. The single became a crossover hit single that reached #2 on the US pop charts and #1 on the R&B charts. People all across the globe were able to connect in and feel the power as millions related to the messages inside, and it also marked Gaye's departure from the pop style of 1960s-era Motown towards more personal material.
It is now time to celebrate the 40th anniversary of this time so in conjunction with the song played on this week's show we thought we would bring you the video from the 2001 campaign 'Artists Against AIDS Worldwide'
The video features the sounds of the following artists: Monica, Lil Kim, Jagged Edge, TLC, Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, Mary J. Blige, Sean Combs, Destiny's Child, Jermaine Dupri (Producer), Eve, Gwen Stefani, Nelly Furtado, Nona Gaye, Wyclef Jean, Christina Aguilera, Alicia Keys, Jennifer Lopez, Nas, Ja Rule, Nelly, *NSYNC. Various Artists - What's Going On
Going back a couple of weeks on the show, we were talking about Kem’s Intimacy tour with, Ledisi and El Debarge, but it seems there was a change in the linup after El checked himself into rehab.
In steps in Musiq Soulchild to replace El (and just quietly) we are more in love with this now. The "Intimacy Tour" is in full effect now so see below where you can experience the magic.

To say we are impressed is an understatement in regards to the whole package when it comes to the new single from Marsha Ambroisus. Not only did we get a massive pleasure to hear the song initailly but the video clip has certainly added a new dimension and a personal message from Marsha.
It tells the story of bullying and suicide which is something Marsha experienced in her personal life and so she wanted to share the message with the world.
This has added to the high anticipation for us of the new album 'Late Nights, Early Mornings' which is due for release February 22.
