There is something just awesome about this new video by Q-tip. Its fun, playful and with Norah Jones coming in with some vocals, it simply brings a smile to my face. Q-Tip's new album is entitled The Renaissance & also features contributions from such artists as Mark Ronson, D'Angelo, Raphael Saadiq and Amanda Diva.
Maybe it was the feeling of a Sunday as Danny and I got together to do another show, but something in the air had us taking it back. We were skimming through the archieves trying to find something to play and came across this sexy little number from Grayson Hugh. For many years I always remembered the people coming out of suitcases and I loved it but never added it to the collection.
Good news for all the fans out there, according to his wikipedia Grayson is planning on releasing a new album sometime this year. That is down right awesome.
Foreign Exchange has been one of those groups over the past few years that keep bringing out tracks that I can't put down. Since the 2004 album 'Connected' I have been captivated by the sound made by Nicolay & Phonte.
The great news is they have released another new video for the song 'I Wanna Know'. It addresses some of the hiccups that some couples have in their relationships. I really stand behind this track and recommend that you go and purchase a copy of the new record 'Leave It All Behind' CLICK HERE.
The video is directed by Matt Koza who also did the Foreign Exchange video for 'House of Cards'.
A triumphant return for the “Dukes of R&B” sees their 6th studio album deliver one of the smoothest sounds for a quartet in 2009. For any avid R&B/Soul listener who thought that this style left us somewhere in the mid to late 90’s should know that All-4-One have delivered through Peak records, music that revives what most have been longing for.
As the journey begins with “Key to Your Heart” and “Old Fashioned Lovin” it’s apparent that old true qualities through lyrics still exist. “Regret” fits into the mould of today’s more upbeat ballads but yet holds true to their overall direction. With tracks like “Perfect” holding down that smooth, sultry style and “I luv that Girl” and “You Don’t Know Nothin” taking you on that barbershop journey, it’s no wonder that these veterans are still solid strong on their game. “The Day Life Began” hits the soul and oozes brilliance and then quickly clicking up three gears into the ever so synthy “Blowin Me Up” which gives you an insight into how today’s sound can be merged into contempory R&B. Well worth the purchase! 5/5
The news is in this week as Boyz II Men have set a date for a new studio album. Entitled 'Love' the disc will be their ninth studio record which will be composed of popular love songs from the past. Like their previous album, it will feature production from American Idol's Randy Jackson. 'Love' is due to be released on November 10, 2009.
Currently, a cover of Journey's "Open Arms" is rumoured to be the first single.
Below you can check out this track plus a random Boyz II Men track from the archives.
Michael Jackson takes a final bow in this theatrical concert film featuring rehearsal footage of the late mega star as he practiced for the 100 shows in London that never came to be in this Columbia Pictures release. High School Musical's Kenny Ortega handles direction duties as well as choreography.
According to Los Angeles based sources, 3,000 tickets for the advance screening were snapped up by fans in just over an hour, which is looking like the trend around the world to make this another amazing milestone for Jackson.
Check out the trailer to see what it is all about.
To all our listeners and anyone reading this blog I think it needs to be understood that All-4-One have returned with an incredible album entitled "No Regrets". I will be writing an article regarding this album and it will be posted up here. People you need to get on this if you appreciate excellent harmonies that R&B groups are lacking these days. Congratulations boys you have done extremely well and need to be commended.
Here is a song taken from the album titled "The Day Life Began"
While doing a little bit of 'tubing this week, I discovered a video from the 2007 talent competition 'It's Showtime At The Apollo'. The artist featured is 'Chanj' who created a storm by jumping on the stage to sing his version of the Floetry hit 'Say Yes'.
This track will hopefully be apart of an upcoming release as he has just finished a version that has been produced by Teddy Reiley and you can hear this in our upcoming show.
Even with a few delays to the release date, its not too long before Mariah Carey is due to release her 12th studio album 'Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel'. Carey revealed that she was calling the album Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel because it was going to be "very personal and dedicated to the fans". She says that the reason she chose to use three images for the cover art is because "there are a lot of different emotions and stories revealed on this album".
Current producers listed on the project are Bryan-Michael Cox, Christopher "Tricky" Stewart, Jermaine Dupri, The-Dream, James "Big Jim" Wright, and it will also be the fist time in her career that she will be working with Timbaland.
The first single 'Obsessed' (i feel) is a drummed out pop tune that lacks any sort of real punch but I hope that the rest of the album will show a little more flare. The second single, a cover of Foreigner's "I Want to Know What Love Is" (produced by Tricky Stewart) will be released to radio in September. You be the judge and see what you think.
